Level 1 Certificate in Computerised Accounts
Aim
The aims of the qualification are to test the candidates ability in the operation of computerised accounts software / packages applied to routine accounting tasks.
Target group
The qualification is aimed at a learner seeking a first qualification in the practical use of computerised accounts. Potential candidates should have an adequate understanding of the terms used in basic book-keeping.
Entry requirements
No formal entry requirements, but it is recommended that candidates have:
Basic keyboarding skills Basic numeracy skills
Objectives
Candidates should be able to complete the following:
Add new accounts to purchase ledger and sales ledger. Create accounts in the nominal ledger from given information. Process information in respect of sales ledger, i.e. invoices, credit notes and receipts. Process information in respect of the purchase ledger, i.e. invoices, credit notes and payments. Enter initial capital. Process transactions involving differing tax rates. Process information in respect of cash and cheque payments and receipts. Calculate and reconcile batch totals as required. Produce a trial balance. Produce supplier and customer activity reports. Produce supplier and customer details reports. Produce nominal ledger account reports.
Structure
The course is accredited by City & Guilds. The one hour examination (plus five minutes reading time) will take the form of a scenario in which it is assumed that the candidate is working in an accounts department.
